An ancient ritual performed by mortals who seek to become vampires—offering their blood, soul, and mortality to the Dark Gods in hopes of being chosen and transformed. Rarely answered. Always dangerous.
Purpose:
To declare the human’s intention to abandon the mortal coil and plead with the Dark Gods—to grant them the dark gift.
When to Perform:
- Between midnight and the third hour (the Hour of Unveiling).
- In total solitude—witnessed only by the dead, the damned, and the divine.
- On the new moon (the Night of Nothingness).
Required Items:
- A silver or black bowl
- A sharp ceremonial dagger (obsidian or bone preferred)
- One black candle
- A piece of paper with the human’s written name on it with a drop of blood smeared on it
- Dried rose petals and ash
- A mirror with a veiled covering
- An offering of blood (a drop of blood)
Ritual Instructions:
- Create the Circle:
Mark a circle on the ground using ash and rose petals. Place the candle at the center, the bowl before you, and cover the mirror behind the candle. - Light the Candle:
Speak aloud: “I light this flame not to see, but to be seen.
Let those who dwell in night hear the cry of my soul.” - Blood Offering:
Use the dagger to poke your finger. Let the blood drip into the bowl. Place the blood-marked paper inside it. - Speak the Invocation (must be spoken aloud with full sincerity and intent): 🩸 INVOCATION TO THE DARK GODS: “Dark Gods of the Endless Night,
Hear me—flesh of dust, soul of longing.
I come not as a lamb, but as a willing shadow.
Let my blood speak where my voice may fail.
Let my hunger be known beyond the veil.
I offer my name to be unmade.
I offer my soul to be remade._
Strip from me the lie of light.
Take me, remake me, devour me, awaken me.
If I am worthy, grant me a fang’s kiss.
If I am not, let me sleep in torment knowing I was seen.
Dark Gods Kings of the Undying,
if you hear me, drink of me.
Let my blood mark the beginning of my end.
I am yours, if you will it.“ - Break the Mirror’s Veil:
Remove the cloth and look into the mirror. If you see nothing, the gods are watching. If you see yourself weeping or bleeding, you have been marked. If your reflection distorts or disappears entirely—the pact has been accepted. - Extinguish the Candle
Sit in silence. Dream. Wait.
Possible Outcomes:
- No Response: Your plea went unheard. Try again under the next new moon—but beware. Each ritual thins the veil, and you risk attracting unwanted spirits.
- The Mark: A shadow follows you in dreams. You begin to crave blood. You are being watched, tested.
- The Calling: A vampire finds you within 13 nights. If they deem you worthy, they will sire you—often through seduction, ritual, or trial by blood.
- The Curse: If performed without sincerity or with mockery, you may be cursed with Shadow Hunger—tormented with thirst for blood but never able to turn.
Final Note:
“Few ever complete the Rite of Crimson Yearning without trembling.
Fewer still are chosen.
But those who are… awaken as something no longer human,
kissed by darkness, eternal in hunger and in beauty.”
